Tippecanoe County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

March 1, 2010

   President Kevin Underwood began the dinner meal at 6:30 p.m. in the Home Ec. Building at the Fairgrounds, by introducing George Lumley, who gave table grace. Beutler’s  Meat Processing catered the meal.

   At 7:12 p.m. Pres. Underwood called the meeting to order. Craig Fuller led the Pledge to the American Flag. Mary Anne Workman gave devotions.

   President Underwood then recognized insurance manager Gary Brownlee who introduced all agents present. Pres. Underwood then introduced guests. There were 54 voting members and 38 guests present.

   Roger Verhey moved to suspend the reading of the March 2, 2009 annual meeting minutes. George Lumley seconded the motion and it passed.

   Senior Regional Manager, Janice Deno, explained membership requirements pertaining to voting, select, student and associate members.

   Nominating Committee Chairman, Sherry Underwood, acknowledged her committee members David Korty, Craig Fuller, and Roger Verhey, and thanked them for their work. She then gave the nominating report, nominating Kevin Underwood for President, Roger Verhey for 2nd Vice-President, and Janet Arvin for Assistant Woman Leader.

   George Lumley moved and David Byers seconded a motion to close nominations. The motion carried.

   Chairman Underwood instructed the members to vote for four delegates to the State Farm Bureau Delegate Session. Those ballots were distributed upon registration. Eight members were nominated: Mary Anne Workman, Roger Verhey, Larry Underwood, Kevin Underwood, Lloyd Leamon, David Korty, Craig Fuller, and Ben DeFreese.

   Roger Verhey made a motion to certify the Board of Directors. David Korty seconded and the motion passed.

   The chairman of the Legislative Committee, Craig Fuller, presented the resolutions, and the ballots were collected.

   Pres. Underwood then introduced our speaker, Donya Lester, Executive Secretary of the Purdue Agricultural Alumni Association. She told us to CARE about agriculture. We should be Confidant, Armed, Reality based, and Evangelize.

   Nominating Committee Chairman, Sherry Underwood, reported that the 2010 delegates would be Kevin Underwood, Lloyd Leamon, Roger Verhey, and Mary Anne Workman.The alternate delegates are Ben DeFreese, Craig Fuller, Larry Underwood, and David Korty.

   David Korty moved and Kenny Miller seconded a motion to destroy all ballots. The motion passed.

   District III Young Farmer representatives Vince and Julia Winkler encouraged all Young Farmers to be actively involved.

   Mary Anne Workman then thanked everyone for their contributions to Food Finders Food Bank. There was $135 in cash and more than 200 nonperishable food items collected at the door, instead of a meal ticket fee.

   She then introduced the District III Lugar essay winner, Colton Underwood. Colton read his essay with the subject “Farmers Looking at a Bright Future”.

   Pres. Underwood introduced District III President Kendell Culp who gave a short property tax report.

   Mary Anne , with help from Colton Underwood, drew names for door prizes. Flowers used for table decorations were won by: John Basham, Lois Buck, Betsy Underwood, Lauren Underwood, June Williamson, Scott Rumble, Fred Reichart, Jennifer Weston, Eleanor Laffoon-Altepeter, Scott Miller, Roland Winger, Stephanie Paul, Diana Roudebush, and Peggy Lumley.

   Cloth shopping bags were won by: Brad Pfeiffer, Ross Williamson, Ben DeFreese, Peg Sullivan, Lloyd Leamon, Rachael Grover, Frank Grover, Cynthia Harding, Ruth Boesche, and Marge Richard.

   Legislative Committee Chairman, Craig Fuller, reported that all resolutions passed.

   President Underwood adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p. m.
