Kevin Underwood, County President, called the 7:30 p.m. board
meeting to order and asked all to stand for the Pledge to the
American Flag and The Lord's Prayer.
Noah Freeman, Agriculture Program Chair with Ivy Tech, was present
to inform us of their new Ag Program. The Lafayette District
is one of six areas offering the new Ag Program at Ivy Tech.
This is the first time an Agriculture Program has been offered at a
Community College in Indiana. With small classes, low tuition
costs and hands-on learning has an enormous potential for growth.
Kevin opened the business meeting asking for any other business to
be added to the agenda. George Lumley made a motion the April
7th board minutes be approved. David Korty seconded the motion
and the minutes were accepted. Jerry Arvin then moved the
check register be approved, Jason Buck 2nd that motion and it too
passed.
INSURANCE - Gary Brownlee, manager, reported auto insurance rates
are going down.
WOMEN - Kathy Bennett, Woman Leader, said plans for the Flower Show
are moving along and she has talked to the judge recently. She
thanked Farm Bureau for the new crimson activity shirts and hope all
will wear them at the County Fair.
SAFETY - Mary Ann Workman told of a recent accident when the hose
for a sprayer wasn't wound up and secured before moving an ATV and
it became tangled when ran over by a tire. She reminded all
who are moving machinery on the roads to be mindful of traffic when
making a wide turn into a field.
COMMODITY - Jason reminded all of the next teleconference meeting on
Tuesday, July 15th, at the board room.
Larry Underwood commented on the higher cost of food
the last few weeks with 44% of the food dollar going to fuel,
transportation and energy. Farmers and ranchers only receive
19% of the food dollar.

Farm Bill. A large percent of the Farm Bill monies goes for
food stamps.
LOCAL AFFAIRS - Kevin talked about the "Youth Center" and was asked
several questions about the building project.
MEMBERSHIP - Janice Deno reported Tippecanoe county is now at 90% of
it's goal with 43 more new voting members needed and 531 associate
members needed to reach our 100%.
INFORMATION - Ellen DeFreese said she was having a few problems with
the website. It is hoped someone will take pictures of the
many activities Farm Bureau is involved in at the upcoming fair.

needed for the Pet Parade at the fair. She asked for
volunteers to help with registering children and very soon she had
all the help she needed.
PUBLIC RELATIONS - Roger Verhey reported all went well at the
Imagination Station Hands on Trucks. The group thanked Farm
Bureau for the $200 donation. The yearly event seems to draw
much interest.
Roger also talked about the Fair Booth needing at least
three workers at each shift. They are having a committee
meeting at their home and each committee member is to bring
questions and answers for "The Wheel." Free popcorn will be
passed out again this year and it is hoped the booth will be
informative about the Farm Bureau organization.
The set-up committee will meet at the office at 8 a.m.
on Saturday the 19th and those members are Ben, Roger, Larry,
George, and Kenny Miller. The clean-up committee are Roger,
Kevin, Nancy, and Rick Bennett.

Saturday, August 23rd in Indianapolis. The four delegates from
our county are Kevin Underwood, George Lumley, Larry Underwood, and
