Kevin Underwood, County President, asked all to stand for the Pledge
To The American Flag and The Lord's Prayer. Kevin then asked for
additions to the agenda.
There being only 14 board members and two representatives present at
this meeting, we need 17 board members for a quorum, we were unable
to conduct a regular business meeting.
INSURANCE - Gary Brownlee, manager, said they are still working on
new signs for the east side office. They have gotten a few members
signed up for the Select Membership program.
EXTENSION - Bryan Metzger, County Extension Director, reported two
4-H members, Elizabeth Byers and Brianna Sipple, will be in
Washington, D.C. from June 30 to July 7th for the Citizenship
Washington Focus trip, which our county Farm Bureau helps support.
Preparation of the grounds for the County Fair
is on schedule and tents will start going up on July 2nd. Some of
the 4-Hjudging is starting to take place with July lOth to the 2Pt
being the very busy pre-fair judging times.
Bryan passed out programs for the Fair and had
signs available. The 2008 Tippecanoe County Fair will be July 19th
to the 26th.
COMMODITY - Lloyd Leamon said soybeans were up for the day
and com prices were down. Soybean prices have been very busy with
weather, weather and more weather being a big factor.
LOCAL AFFAIRS - Kevin is working toward having a meeting with
members of the County Council and the County Commissioners in
September.
MEMBERSHIP - Dale Workman, First Vice-President, reported we have
952 voting members and 5077 total members for 86% of our county
goal.
LITTLE FARMERS - The three judges are lined up for the Parade
on Tuesday evening of the Fair. Mary Ann Workman will help register
the contestants and it is hoped others will be around in case they
are needed to help.
Mary Ann reported there was a great
turn out for the Imagination Station "Hands On Trucks" program, June
2nd. The tractor was popular and some children returned two and
three times to be able to climb on the tractor.
It was agreed we not have a July
meeting because the date comes during the County Fair. The next
board meeting will be on August 20th at 7:30 p.m. It was changed
with the hope more would attend the District III Fall Meeting on
August 28th. This sounds like an exciting meeting to be held on the
Madame Carroll with dinner served at 7 p.m. on the boat. Watch your
