June 25, 2007 Meeting Report

Kevin Underwood, County President, asked all to stand for the Pledge To The American Flag and The Lord's Prayer. Kevin then asked for additions to the agenda.

There being only 14 board members and two representatives present at this meeting, we need 17 board members for a quorum, we were unable to conduct a regular business meeting.

INSURANCE - Gary Brownlee, manager, said they are still working on new signs for the east side office. They have gotten a few members signed up for the Select Membership program.

EXTENSION - Bryan Metzger, County Extension Director, reported two 4-H members, Elizabeth Byers and Brianna Sipple, will be in Washington, D.C. from June 30 to July 7th for the Citizenship Washington Focus trip, which our county Farm Bureau helps support.

Preparation of the grounds for the County Fair is on schedule and tents will start going up on July 2nd. Some of the 4-Hjudging is starting to take place with July lOth to the 2Pt being the very busy pre-fair judging times.

Bryan passed out programs for the Fair and had signs available. The 2008 Tippecanoe County Fair will be July 19th to the 26th.

COMMODITY - Lloyd Leamon said soybeans were up for the day and com prices were down. Soybean prices have been very busy with weather, weather and more weather being a big factor.

LOCAL AFFAIRS - Kevin is working toward having a meeting with members of the County Council and the County Commissioners in September.

MEMBERSHIP - Dale Workman, First Vice-President, reported we have 952 voting members and 5077 total members for 86% of our county goal.

LITTLE FARMERS - The three judges are lined up for the Parade on Tuesday evening of the Fair. Mary Ann Workman will help register the contestants and it is hoped others will be around in case they are needed to help.

Mary Ann reported there was a great turn out for the Imagination Station "Hands On Trucks" program, June 2nd. The tractor was popular and some children returned two and three times to be able to climb on the tractor.

It was agreed we not have a July meeting because the date comes during the County Fair. The next board meeting will be on August 20th at 7:30 p.m. It was changed with the hope more would attend the District III Fall Meeting on August 28th. This sounds like an exciting meeting to be held on the Madame Carroll with dinner served at 7 p.m. on the boat. Watch your mailbox for more information.
