TIPPECANOE COUNTY FARM BUREAU ANNUAL MEETING
March 5, 2007
Kevin Underwood, County President, called the meeting to order and
asked Larry Underwood for Invocations. The 6:30 p.m. dinner meeting
was held at the county fair grounds and catered by Parrott's of
Flora.
Kevin called the business meeting to order by asking Young Farmer,
Craig Fuller, to lead the Pledge to The American Flag and Sherry
Underwood gave a devotional on "Friendship". Dale Workman, 1st Vice
President, introduced Farm Bureau guests Kendell and Tammy Culp,
Janet and Alan Kemper, Marla Storms and Pat Burkhalter, also Tracy
Brown, Ben and Rose Anderson, Bryan and Cindy Metzger, Onette Tolle,
Ruth Shedd and Betty Michael. Gary Brownlee, Farm Bureau Insurance
manager, introduced all his agents and staff present.
Kenneth Miller made a motion we not read the minutes from the 2006
Annual Meeting and accept them as sent, Sherry Underwood 2nd and the
motion carried.
The nominating committee were Sherry Underwood, Alan Kemper, Helen
Nesbitt and Jason Buck. Alan presented the names of Dale Workman for
1st Vice President, Eleanor Laffoon for Secretaryffreasurer and
Kathy Bennett for County Woman Leader. Lloyd Leamon moved the
nominations be closed, Betsy Underwood seconded his motion and it
passed. Lloyd then made a motion to accept the nominating committee
report, Roger Verhey seconded and that motion passed.
The county board submitted a list of eleven names, on a paper
ballot, as possible delegates to the Indiana Farm Bureau delegate
sessions. Roger Verhey moved that list of nominees be closed,
Eleanor Laffoon 2nd and the motion passed. After all voting members
had voted and the ballots were counted the 4 delegates to represent
our county until the next annual meeting are; Kevin Underwood, Dale
Workman, Roger Verhey and Lloyd Leamon, the 4 alternates are; Jason
Buck, Larry Underwood, George Lumley and Nancy Verhey.
President Kevin then asked that members of the board of
directors be approved. Joyce Miller moved the list of directors be
approved, Bryan Metzger seconded and the motion passed.
Roger Verhey presented the resolutions that had been turned in and
gone over by his committee. After discussion voting members were
able to vote. All the resolutions passed with the changes, made on
number (6) of the Local resolutions, regarding guardrails at
bridges.
Kevin introduced the speaker for the evening, Les Zimmerman from
Vermillion County. Les is in the nursery business and very much
interested in soil and water conservation and is on several
committees. He spoke on global warming, renewable electric power
supply, ethanol,
wind power, coal usage and how other state governments have used tax
dollars that should have stayed here in our own state. Indiana is
behind in many ways.
Janet Kemper, District III Woman Leader, reported on the
Carolyn Burkle Scholarship, Spring Conference, District III April
Seminar and an activity book.
Kendell Culp, District III Director, told of an August 28th District
outing on the Madam Carroll, the accidental death benefit for
members and family members, property taxes and cash rents.
Janice Deno, Regional Manager, talked about Young Farmer
activities and that anyone between the age 18 and 40, are in a farm
related job, are eligible to join Young Farmers.
Twenty four lucky ticket holders received a candle for a
door prize.
